Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Caroline M. Illies, age 87, of St. Cloud who died on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at St. Benedict's Center in St. Cloud. The Rev. Peter VanderWeyst will officiate. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Friends may call between 4-8 PM on Friday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 9 AM on Saturday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 7 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Caroline was born on January 5, 1921 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Nicholas and Josephine (Miller) Stein. She married Leander Illies on March 1, 1938 in St. Mary's Cathedral in St. Cloud. Caroline lived in St. Cloud all of her life and was a member of St. Anthony's Parish. Caroline had a great love for Old Time Music, gardening, fishing, crafting, and family get-togethers.
Survivors include her children, David (Mary Ann) of Longville, Jeanette Reiter (Ralph) of Anoka, Vernie Schroer (Tom) of Sauk Rapids, Dona Prom of Sauk Rapids, and Lenny (Mary Kay) of Richmond; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Veronica Morin of Waite Park and Marcella Fisher of Fairhaven; and brother, Albert Stein of Waite Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leander in 2002; brothers, Elmer and Gilbert; granddaughter, Cheryl Meeks; and great grandson, Brockton Olson.
