Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Lawrence T. Dingmann, age 80, who died Tuesday surrounded by his family in the Paynesville Area Hospital. Burial will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. Parish Prayers will be a 4:00 p.m. followed by a rosary with the Catholic Aid Association, Knights of Columbus and Richmond American Legion.
Lawrence was born in Farming to the late John Henry and Angela (Koetter) Dingmann. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Holthaus on August 26, 1953 in St. Catherine's Church, Farming. After their marriage, the couple moved to Richmond to start their family. He served in the Korean Conflict from 19541956. Lawrence worked at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in St. Cloud for 33 years and as a bus driver with the Richmond Bus Service for many years before retiring. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish where he served as a communion minister and usher for many years, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Aid Association and the Richmond American Legion. Lawrence enjoyed spending time with family, crossword puzzles, John Deere tractors, driving bus and mowing the lawn.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Betty; children, Marvin (Audrey) of Avon, Patti (Tucker) Plantenberg and Gordon (Bonnie) of Richmond, Mark (Kathy) of Paynesville, Jean Sauer of Cold Spring, Joan (Brian) Linn of Watkins, Rhonda, Loren(Donna) of Richmond; 16 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; siblings, Ambrose (Florence) of Elrosa, Theresa Lieser of Paynesville, Martha Mehr of Albany; sister-in-law, Betty Wittes of St. Cloud; brother-in-law, Roman Theis of St. Paul.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon; son-in-law, Loran Sauer; brothers, Alphonse, Clemens, Leonard and Gregor; sisters, S. Wahlberga, OSB, S.Angella, OSB, Emma Olmscheid and Barbara Theis.
