Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Freeport, for Edwin Meyer, who died Saturday at his home. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Monday, and from 10 to 11 a.m.Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Freeport Senior Citizens and Saint Joseph¹s Men¹s Society will pray at 4 p.m., Freeport Fire Department and Catholic Aid at 7 p.m., and parish prayers at 8 p.m. Monday at the church.
Edwin Ferdinand Meyer was born August 14, 1917, in Sauk Centre, MN, to Theodore and Theresa (Rademacher) Meyer. He served in the U.S. Army for four years during World War II. He was united in marriage to Viola Middendorf on July 1, 1947, at Saint Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. They resided on a farm north of Freeport where they farmed for 32 years. They retired near Freeport, where he presently resided. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport, Freeport Senior Citizens, Saint Joseph¹s Men¹s Society, and Freeport Catholic Aid Society.
Survivors include his wife, Viola Meyer of Freeport; children, Janet (Werner) Ostendorf of Freeport, James Meyer of Freeport, LouAnn (Mark) Thielen of Browerville, Doris (Ralph) Hinnenkamp of Melrose, Donald Meyer of Freeport, Judy (Ed) Schmiesing of Melrose, Glenn 'Gopher' (Betty) Meyer of Freeport, Elaine (Jeff) Wicklund of Becker; sisters, Beata Schulzetenberg of New Munich, Marina Bertram of Paynesville, Alma Worms of Mahnomen; brothers, Richard Meyer of California, and Roman of Freeport; 23 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
