Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday, March 9, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport for Jerome Beuning, 85, who died peacefully at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 8 to 10 am at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Freeport Senior Citizens will pray at 4 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 5:30 p.m. and Holy Name Society and Holy Family Catholic Aid of St. Rosa at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Jerry was born January 25, 1922 in Millwood Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Henry and Elizabeth (VonBonken) Beuning. He married Lillian Fabeck on April 26, 1943 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. They farmed on the family farm near St. Rosa until retiring in 1988 and moving to the town of Freeport. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he served as an usher, Holy Name Society of St. Rosa and served 26 years on Albany Mutual Fire Ins. Co. Jerry loved to dance and play cards.
Survivors include his children, Mary Ann Klasen (David) of Albany, Richard "Larry" Beuning of Freeport, Marlene Schmidt (Donald) of Hoffman, Darrel Beuning (Barb) of Freeport; sisters, Connie Hoeschen of Mahnomen, Agnes Schwinghammer of Freeport, Sally Viere of Melrose, Rose Spanier (Roman) of St. Joseph; sisters-in-law, Lydia Beuning and Viola Beuning; brother-in-law, Al Timp; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian Beuning on May 5, 2005; brothers, Ambrose, William, and Lawrence Beuning; and sisters, Martha Timp and Ann Kuffel. Memorials are preferred to Pine Haven Alzheimer Unit in Melrose.
