Robert S. Imdieke, age 88 of Elrosa, died Friday morning, August 28, 2009 at St. Michaels Hospital in Sauk Centre. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 31, 2009 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church, where there will be a 7: 30 p.m. Parish Prayer Service. Visitation will continue on Monday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade.
Robert Sylvester Imdieke was born on Dec. 25, 1920 in Bluffton, the son of Herman G. and Gertrude (Breitbach) Imdieke. He grew up on the family farm in Bluffton until the age of 13 when the family moved to a farm near Elrosa. He attended Belgrade High School, graduating in 1940. He continued his education at the U of M Ag School in St. Paul. On Oct. 10, 1944, Bob was united in marriage to Mary Ann Braun. They made their home on the Imdieke family farm near Elrosa where they raised thirteen children, farmed and milked registered Holsteins. Bob was a member of Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church, sang in the choir for more than 60 years and was a charter member of the building committee of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School. Following in his fathers foot steps he was on the board of directors of the REA from 1978 to 1984. In retirement he enjoyed fishing, playing cards at Buckys, watching the twins, visiting Jackpot Junction and spending countless hours in his beloved Lake George Woods.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Ann; daughters, Mary Ellen Imdieke, Bonnie (Tom) Malterer, Norie (Gary) Mohs, Geri (Hal Roadman), Amy Imdieke; sons, Bob (Pam), Rick (Shelley), Roger (Judy), Rollie (Kim), Tom, and Todd (Julie); daughter-in-laws, Pam and Sally ; 27 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his sons, Ron and Tim; infant twin sons; parents; brothers, Herman, Wendelin and Ervin; sisters, Sr Leonissa OSB (Marie), Marcella Meyer, Bertha Roelike, and Vi Bayer.
