Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for Arnold Berscheid Sr., 79, who died Tuesday at his home. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home, Grey Eagle. Parish prayers will be at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Arnold Berscheid Sr. was born in Birchdale Township, Todd County, to Nick and Mae (Pluth) Berscheit. He married Marle Ahrens on June 22, 1943, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Sauk Centre. The couple farmed near St. Rosa. They later moved and farmed in Birchdale Township until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of St. Joseph's Cath-olic Church, Little Birch Lake Association and was a former member of the Grey Eagle Creamery Board.
Survivors include his children, Margaret Collins of Maplewood, Pat Buchholz, Arnold Jr. and Robert of Grey Eagle, Kay Johnson of Woodland, Jan Middendorf and Dennis of Melrose, Barbara Buck of Cedar, Pam Klaphake of Freeport, Dr. Thomas of Orono, and Jack of Monticello; 29 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Dorothy Jacobs, Lorraine Bitz and Julian of Grey Eagle, Clarence of Melrose, and Edward of Sauk Centre. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald.
