William A. Scharber

SCHARBER, William A. "Bill," 83, of San Antonio, Fla., passed away peacefully Friday, June 27, 2008, at his home.

A lifelong area resident, he was born September 4, 1924, in Pasco County to William M. and Mary Grief Scharber. Family, hunting, fishing and baseball were his lifelong passions. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

He is survived by seven children: five sons and their wives, Jim and Jenny Scharber of Brooksville, Fla., Dick and Colleen Scharber of Safety Harbor, Fla., Bob and Neva Scharber of San Antonio, Billy and Kay Scharber, San Antonio, and Ronnie and Debbie Scharber, San Antonio; and two daughters and their husbands, Betty and Jerry Schambeau of San Antonio, and Brenda and Dan McBath of Dade City, Fla. He is also survived by his sister, Theresa Blommel of St. Joseph; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Scharber and two brothers, John W. Scharber and Joseph Scharber. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Anthony Parish Cemetery in San Antonio. Friends may call 6-7 p.m. Monday at the church, where a rosary service will be conducted at 7 p.m. He was a lifelong employee of the San Antonio Lumber Company. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to either St. Anthony Catholic School or Pasco-Hernando Hospice.
