Mildred Scharber SCHARBER, Mildred Charlotte, 82, of San Antonio, passed away Friday, June 11, 2004 peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Dade City March 8, 1922 to Clement G. and and Mary (Bichsel) Gude. Her brother, Leonard and two sisters, Eda Barthle and Cecelia Scharber preceded her in death. Mildred loved people and was actively involved with her church and community. Memberships and activities included St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church of San Antonio as well as its choir, Eucharistic Ministry, Youth Ministry and Women's Club; Day-Z Flower Club of San Antonio; Red Hat Society, Leading Lady Club; San Ann Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club; and was a San Antonio Voting Clerk.
Her loving family includes her husband of 60 years, William "Bill," five sons, Jim (Jenny) of Brooksville, Dick (Colleen) of Safety Harbor, Bob (Neva) of San Antonio, Billy (Kay) of San Antonio, and Ronnie (Debbie) San Antonio; two daughters, Betty (Jerry) Schambeau of San Antonio, and Brenda (Dan) McBath of D ade City; three brothers, Florian (Sylvia) Gude, Frank (Rosemary) Gude, and Carl (Louise) Gude all of St. Joseph; two sisters, Agnes McCarthy of St. Joseph and Sophie (Edward) Storch of San Antonio; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday (tonight) with visitation 1 hour prior at the church. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tues. June 15, 2004 at St. Anthony of Padna Catholic Church in San Antonio. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories in San Antonio. Donations may be made to St. Anthony Catholic School in memory of Mrs. Scharber.
