The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at the Sacred Heart Chapel, Saint Benedict's Monastery, for Sister Clare Imdieke, 95, who died on February 13 at Saint Scholastica Convent. Burial will be in the monastery cemetery. Friends may call at Saint Scholastica Convent on Tuesday, February 15, from 1- 6 p.m., or for a Vigil Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Saint Benedict's Monastery. Visitation continues at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15, until the time of the funeral at 4 p.m., at Saint Benedict's Monastery.
Sister Clare (Cosma) was born in Meire Grove, Minn., to Herman and Veronica (Schulte) Imdieke on August 8, 1909. She entered Saint Benedict's Monastery on June 16, 1929, and made her perpetual profession on July 11, 1933. She graduated from the College of Saint Benedict with a B.A. in Elementary Education. For 38 years she taught mainly the primary grades in St. Paul, Robbinsdale, St. Cloud, Melrose, Browerville, Bluffton, Wadena, Minn., and Anaconda, Mont.. In her later years she engaged in the domestic arts in convents in Albany, St. Cloud, Sobieski, Breckenridge, Millerville, St. Augusta, and Maple Lake. She retired to Saint Scholastica Convent in 1997.
S. Clare is survived by her Benedictine community, two brothers (Albert and Herman of Melrose), and two sisters (Ms. Rose Fladung of Blackduck, and Ms. Susan Inderrieden of Melrose). She was preceded in death by one brother (Norbert), and one sister (Ms. Dorothy Marthaler).
