Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church for Benny lmdieke, 85, who died Saturday at Melrose Area Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home, Melrose. St. Joseph's Society will pray at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Melrose, followed by parish prayers at 9.
Benny Imdieke was born in Meire Grove to Bernard and Elizabeth (Haverkamp) lmdieke. He married Loretta Michels on June 30, 1948, in St. Paul's Catholic Church, Sauk Centre. The couple farmed, and later purchased the Haverkamp farm southwest of Meire Grove. His wife died on March 23, 1969. He retired in 1995. He played in the Dutch Masters Band, later Benny's Accordion Band, in the late 1930s through the early 1950s. He raised and sold rat terriers for many years. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and St. Joseph's Society.
Survivors include his children, Gene and Don of Meire Grove; sisters and brother, Rose Meyer and Fronie Steinhofer and Lawrence of Meire Grove, Minnie Hagemeier of St. Cloud and Lorraine Hellermann of Vadnais Heights; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Alphonse, Leo, and Raphael. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
