Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church for Edward G. Meyer, 82, 810 Fourth Ave. N., who died Tuesday at his home.Burial will be in the parish cemetery.Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at Daniel Funeral Home. VFW Post 428 will pray at 6 tonight at the funeral home in Sartell followed by Waite Park American Legion Post 428 at 6:15, St. Monica's Christian Women at 6:30 and parish prayers at 7.
Edward Meyer was born in St. Joseph to Francis and Walburga (Reisinger) Meyer. He married Theresa Zimba on July 14, 1945, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Opole. He lived in the St. Cloud and Sartell areas most of his married life. He was self-employed as a general contractor and owned Meyer Construction Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a radio telephone operator under Gen. Patton. He was a member and usher at St. Francis Xavier Catholic church; member of VFW Post 428; and former member of 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Father Pierz Assembly and Moose Lodge 1400.
Survivors include his wife; daughter and sons, Sherry Wiger of San Diego, Kurt of Minneapolis, Bruce and Timothy of St. Cloud; brother and sisters, Jerome of St. Joseph, Ann Kvetensky of Minneapolis and Cora Ballman of Spokane, Wash.He was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Leona Roth, Aurelia Anderson, Theresa Blonigan, Frances Bidinger, Loretta Noga, Marie Schmidt, Mary, Henry, John, Joseph, Frank, Louis and Anton.Memorials are preferred.
