Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 12 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose for Eugene "Pitzel" Moening, who died Friday at the Melrose Area Hospital. Rev. Vincent Lieser will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. on Monday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Christian Mothers will pray at 7:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home in Melrose.
Survivors include his wife, Karen (Kortan) Moening of Melrose; mother, Frances Moening of Melrose; daughter, Melanie Moening and son, Brian Moening, both of Melrose; granddaughter, Courtney; brother, Jack (Alice) Moening of Melrose. Preceded in death by father, Bernard Moening and sister, Karen Moening.
