Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 10 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose for Frances Moening who died Monday, June 7 at the Melrose Area Hospital. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 10 a.m. on Thursday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose.
Frances Moening was born in Melrose to Henry and Mary (Zitur) Althaus. She married Bernard "Ben" Moening on June 14, 1932 in Melrose. Frances was employed as a housekeeper at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose for many years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, watching the Twins and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her bubbly personality will be missed by many.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, Christian Mothers and St. Elizabeth's Society.
Survivors include her son, Jack Moening (Alice) of Melrose; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and sister, Thresa Nathe of Melrose.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard "Ben" Moening on December 26, 1972; daughter, Karen Moening; son, Gene Moening; brother, Ray Althaus; and sister, Catherine Gieske.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
