Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 10 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose for Tony J. Moening who died Saturday, September 7 at the Melrose Area Hospital. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Monday 3:30 - 9 p.m. and Tuesday 8 - 11 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Knights of Columbus will pray at 7:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home in Melrose.
Tony Moening was born in Melrose to John and Agnes (Renneker) Moening. He married Renee Otte on October 17, 1938, in Willmar.
Survivors include his children; Diane (Don) Kerfeld of St. Paul, Jane Moening of Braham, and Gary (Rita) Moening of Cold Spring; daughter-in-law, Dianne (Harry) Kerfeld of Freeport; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and sister, Marie Welz of Melrose.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Renee Moening on November 8, 2001; son, Tom Moening; brothers, George, Fred, Henry, Herman, Bernard, Theodore and Boniface Moening and sister, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Williams.
