Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Theodore J. Moening, 89, who died Friday at Pine Villa Care Center.Interment will be in the parish cemetery.Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be 8 tonight at the funeral home in Melrose, followed by Melrose Knights of Columbus and St. Bernard's Society at 8:30.
Theodore Moening was born in Melrose to John and Agnes Moening. He married Rose C. Welle on June 26, 1939, in St. Boniface Catholic Church, Melrose. He owned and operated Moening Cement Block Plant in Melrose. He was also employed by Melrose Creamery, and hauled milk for Kraft. He worked with granite for Empire Memorials, Melrose, and at Meadowlark Country Club. He had been a resident of Pine Villa Care Center since 1990. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Bernard's Society, Melrose Knights of Columbus and was a retired member of the Melrose Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife; children, Kathleen Zachman of Melrose, Darlene Weber of Coon Rapids, and Lee of St. Cloud; sister and brother, Marie Welz and Tony of Melrose; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister and brothers, Elizabeth Williams, George, Henry, Fred, Herman, Bernard and Boniface.
