Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Richmond for Irene A. Hemmesch, age 84, who died Friday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday and from 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. Parish prayers will be at 4 p.m. and the Golden Smiles and Christian Women will pray a rosary at 4:30 p.m.
Irene was born in Richmond to Henry and Josephine (Ressemann) Schulte. She married Aloys Hemmesch on April 28, 1936, in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Richmond. Irene was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, the Christian Women and the Golden Smiles Senior Citizens group.
Survivors include her children, Jack (Fran), Donald (Bev), Grace (Ed) Archer, Joan (Don) Lemke, Jane Klein, Rita (Richard) Stanger, Howard, Norma (Conrad) Soschnik, Les (Patricia), Mary Kay (Linus) Metzger, Jeff, (Mary Lou), and Dean (Michelle); daughter-in-law, Renate; 43 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aloys; children, Edna and Eric; three great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Herb Klein; daughter-in-law, Deanna; three sisters; and two brothers.
