Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for Mathias 'Math' Willenbring, 87, who died Saturday at Mother Lucille Leisure Living Home.Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Wenner Funeral Home. The Richmond Senior's Catholic Aid and the Calix Society will pray the rosary at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Richmond followed by parish prayers at 8 and Paynesville St. Louis Knights of Columbus, Richmond Volunteer Fire Department and Catholic Order of Foresters rosary at 9.

Mathias Willenbring was born in Richmond to Henry and Margaret (Koetter) Willenbring. He married Anna Spanier on June 9, 1936, in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Richmond. The couple farmed four miles northwest of Richmond until 1946. He then worked as a lineman for Northern States Power Co., St. Cloud, for 18 years. After his retirement, he worked for Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Grade School, Richmond, and Brinky's Gas Station. He also volunteered as a driver for Social Services, St. Cloud. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Richmond, where he was an usher; Catholic Aid; Catholic Order of Foresters; Alcoholics Anonymous; Calix Society; and Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include daughters and sons, Grace Schnieder of Brooklyn Park, Jeanette Wherry of Edina, Carole Schaefer of Minneapolis, Darlene St. Martin of Deer Park, Texas, Ann Gotfredson of St. Cloud, and Gerald "Dederdah" and Ron "Willie" of Richmond; brothers and sisters, Lawrence of Cold Spring, Bertha Lucken and Irmund of Richmond, Sister Ansgar, OSB, of Red Lake, and Theresa Eisenschenk of Cold Spring; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife, 1991; son, Eric, 1959; brothers and sisters, John, Frank, Andrew, Ed, Ludwig, Othmar, Ben, Benedict, Anne Toenies, Kate Steinke, Josephine Neussendorfer and Mary, and an infant sister, Theresa.
