Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 29 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Melrose for Viola Frieler who died Saturday, October 25 at the Melrose Area Hospital. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Christian Mothers will pray at 6 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Viola Frieler was born April 1, 1928 in Melrose to Joseph and Elizabeth (Dickhaus) Hinnenkamp. She married Lawrence Frieler on September 21, 1954 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. The couple resided in Atwater, Avon, Belgrade, Watkins and St. Cloud before moving to Melrose in 1976. She was a homemaker all her life. Viola enjoyed canning food, playing cards, camping with her family and watching the Minnesota Twins and Timberwolves. She was member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Melrose and the Christian Mothers.
Survivors include her sons, Richard (Susan) Frieler of Chisago City, Steven (Therese) Frieler of Hastings, Daniel (Brenda) Frieler of St. Cloud and Brian Frieler of Orlando, FL; seven grandchildren; sister, Celestine Sally Hinnenkamp of Melrose; and brother, Luverne (Jeanne) Hinnenkamp of Melrose.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence Frieler on May 24, 2002; brothers, Alfred and Elmer Hinnenkamp.
