OCCUPATION: Henry and his brother, Christian, were Mennonite ministers in Pennsylvania that preached to a group known as "Funkites". Henry moved from Pennsylvania to Singer's Glen in Rockingham Co., Virginia (eight miles North of Harrisonburg) in 1786. BIRTH: Hott has both 1727 and 1739, Ancestor File Source has as 1729. BURIAL: Trissels Cemetery, Rockingham, VA DEATH: Bond dated January 27, 1794, names Henry Funk, John Funk, Christian Roth, and Anty Miller as administrators of his estate (Frances Funk p. 62). LAND: Henry and Barbara (Showalter) Funk granted over 400 acres South of Showalter homestead by father Jacob Showalter in 1767 will (probated 1773) Will P279-400, Philadelphia Co. Courthouse, Philadelphia, PA. (cited in P. Brown article). On September 24, 1783, Henry inherited 166 acre farm from father (Montgomery Co., PA estate papers) in Hilltown Twp., Bucks Co., PA. Lived there until 1786 when he and entire family (except Jacob) moved to Virginia. Settled 1.5 miles West of Singer's Glen, near Little North Mountain, Rockingham Co., VA. This land was later purchased by Joseph Funk's son, John Funk (A.J. Fretz p. 306). In 1975 it was owned by John's son Joseph Earle Funk (D. MacAllister p. 48). MIGRATION: Henry moved his family to Singers Glen, Rockingham Co., VA (eight miles north of Harrisonburg) in 1786. SOURCES: Rev. A. J.
