FUNERAL OF MRS. FOULKE
Services at the Home and Burial at Sheridan
Bakers Corner, Feb. 14 -- Relatives and friends of this community were shocked over the death of Mrs. Alvin Foulke which occurred Thursday evening at her home in the providence neighborhood.
She and her husband were born and grew up in this community, attended the Bakers Corner school and married and resided here until a few years ago. Their two sons, Herbert and Russell, were born here. They all have spent their entire life in the county. Her birth occurred on Oct. 23, 1877, on the old homestead of her maternal grandparents, John Y. and Rachel H. Baker, pioneer people, they having settled here almost a century ago and she and Mr. Foulke set up housekeeping in this same dwelling in 1898. Her aged parents, Jesse and Alice Kellam, also two brothers, Rollie and Harry Kellam with their families, reside in this neighborhood. There are two other brothers, Lee, of Zanesville, Ohio, and Fred, of Indianapolis, who with their families attended the funeral Sunday, which was a home funeral with Rev. Griffan of the Providence church in charge. The music was provided by cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Foulke, Mrs. Alvin Baker and Archie Wilson, singing, with Mrs. Hester Fouch at the piano. The memorial was written and read by a cousin, Mrs. J. H. Campbell. The pall bearers were nephews, and the nieces carried the flowers. The burial was in the Sheridan cemetery.
The immediate relatives were entertained to dinner in the Rollie Kellam home after the funeral.
A large circle of friends and relatives was in the home during the week and to offer sympathy to the bereaved and pay respects to a loving friend now deceased, also many attended the service Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs Lee Kellam and son, Paul returned to their home, Sunday. [3]
