Death
Charles McGuire Dies Suddenly; Rites WednesdayCharles McGuire, 79-year-old Westfield contractor, passed away suddenly in his sleep Sunday evening.
Although he had been in poor health for the past year, he was as well as usual Sunday and enjoyed a long ride in the afternoon. After returning home, he decided to rest a while and instructed members of the family to call him in time for a favorite radio program. When they went to awaken him shortly after 6 o'clock they found him dead.
Funeral services will be held at the McMullan Mortuary at 2 pm Wednesday with the Rev. Ben Kendall of Kokomo in charge. Burial will be in Summit Lawn cemetery south of Westfield. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 o'clock this (Monday) evening.
A brick and stone mason of unusual ability, McGuire was a noted general contractor during his active years. His handiwork on many of the business buildings and homes in Hamilton county stands as a monument to his skill.
Although born in Madison county, he lived most of his life in Westfield community. His wife died in 1947.
Survivors include a son, Byron McGuire, daughter-in-law, Bernice McGuire; and three grandchildren Leslie, Marilyn Sue and Jerry McGuire, all of Westfield. [1]
