Bio Note29 Jul 1853Boston Evening Transcript published an article entitled EVADING RAILROAD FARE. "Joseph Pearson, of Winchster, who with a confederate was last week held for trial on charges in connection with a disgraceful pugilistic demonstration towards Mr. Jera W. Mower, one of the gentlemanly conductors on the Woburn Branch trains, has also been fined $10 and costs, for evading the payment of his fare at the time of the 'brush" referred to."
Bio Note28 Mar 1855Boston Herald published an article entitled ACCIDENT ON THE LOWELL RAILROAD. "This morning, about 9 1-2 o'clock, the inward passenger train from Woburn Centre, struck some cotton which had fallen on the track from a freight train, and was thrown off the track, by which the engine, tender and baggage car came in violent collision and were smashed up. Mr. Jera W. Mower, the conductor, also had a leg broken, but the other managers of the train fortunately escaped with slight bruises, and none of the passangers were injured
