Obituary
George W. Wakely, 67, of 19 Mill St., died unexpectedly Oct. 29, 1981, at his residence. He was born in Bridgeport, Conn., May 13, 1914, the son of William and Jessie (Lambert) Wakely. He was a graduate of Brewer High School, class of 1931, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Daniel Geaghan Post, American Legion. He was an employee of the Bangor Housing Authority. He is survived by his wife, Ethel (Hewes) Wakely of Brewer; one son, John W. Wakely of Brewer; one daughter, Mrs. Michael (Nancy) Hoctor of Eliot; two grandsons, John Michael II, and Samuel Paul Hoctor, of Eliot; three cousins. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lawrence V. Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer, with the Rev. Arthur C. Woodward officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer. Friends may call at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.
