EXETER, Jan. 7 - Miss Irene Ireland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Cain of Exeter, became the bride of Carlton Fleming, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Fleming of Woodville in a late December wedding at the Methodist parsonage in Lincoln. The Rev. George Budd, pastor, performed the double ring ceremony. The bride wore a grey suit with black accessories. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hurd, sister and brother-in-law of the bridegroom, attended the couple. Mr. Fleming is employed at the Eastern Corporation mill in Lincoln. The couple will live in Lincoln.Obituary
LINCOLN and NEWPORT - Carlton L. Fleming, 82, husband of the late Irene (Cain) Fleming, died June 10, 2003, at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Woodville, May 8, 1921, the son of Leroy and Louise (Bowker) Fleming. He was a veteran of World War II and was very active in the American Legion No. 77 of Lincoln and American Legion Post No. 73 of Corinna. Carlton was employed by Lincoln Pulp and Paper for 42 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish and ride his motorcycle. He and Irene could be seen riding their motorcycle all over the state, and were featured in Easy Rider Magazine for their ride to Boston. Carlton did volunteer work at Togus. He was devoted to his family and cared for them up until just before his death. He is survived by three sons, Carlton Fleming Jr. of Newport, Daryl Fleming of Alpharetta, Ga., and Terry Fleming of Northglenn, Colo.; two daughters, Maria Hernandez of Winston Salem, N.C., and Elsie Spencer of Enfield; two brothers, George Fleming of Woodville and Leroy Fleming of Medway; one sister, Myra Hurd of Lincoln; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2003, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Glenn Speed Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery. Those who wish may donate in Carlton's memory to the American Diabetes Association.
