Bio Note
Ephraim Mower was born at Lynn, 17 June 1681 and died, probably at Boston, before 20 September 1748, when an inventory of his estate was taken. He married (int.) at Lynn, 20 July 1706, Elizabeth Devereaux. Ephraim Mower removed to Boston, whre [sic] he carried on a cooperage business. He was an educated man & took part in the affairs of the town. He set his son-in-law Mark Davis up in business in Gloucester. Ephraim was a man of wealth and influence. He had 2 colored slaves named Robin & Bristo; and an estate valued at 4,154 pounds, 10 shillings. His will was approved at Boston, 22 September 1748 (Suffolk County Probate, 41:495).Endnotes
