Obituary
BANGOR - Irene Shea Connors, 85, of 78 Seventh St., died May 10, 1982, at a local hospital. She was born in Bangor, Sept. 7, 1896, the daughter of James. H. and Mary (Tremble) Shea. She was a clerk-bookkeeper in downtown Bangor for many years and was honored recently for her active and dedicated service to Meals for Me. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a promotor of the Miraculous Medal for many years, a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and the RNA for more than 60 years. Surviving are three grandsons, Alan R. Leighton Jr. of Portland, Mark S. Leighton of Boston and David W. Leighton of Bangor; three great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Friends may call at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Those who wish may contribute in her memory to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 754 Ohio St., Bangor.Endnotes
