Gregg V. McCarter, 48, of Rockford died at 4pm Thursday, July 10, 1997, in his home after a sudden illness. Born Jan. 21 1949, in Indianapolis, Ind., the son of Melborne (Mac) and Ione (Diedrich) McCarter. Lived most of his life in Rockford. Owned Lender's Recovery Service. Veteran of US Army. Attended St. James Catholic Church. Survivors include son, Matthew W. McCarter; mother, Ione McCarter; brother, Wayne (Mariene) McCarter; former wife, Vickie (Gray) McCarter; special friend, Dawn Steimer, all of Rockford; and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father.
Memorial service at 7pm Wednesday, July 23, in Fitzgerald & Associates Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, with the Rev. David E. Beauvais officiating, preceded by a one-hour visitation. Inturnment at 10am Thursday, July 24 in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials to the family. 7-20-2
