Mrs. Eugenia Clark McCarter died at her home near Elk Creek about 3:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon, April 15. She had been critically ill since suffering a stroke about a week earlier.

Mrs. McCarter was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. Clark, Spring Valley. She and Mr. McCarter celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary last October.

Surviving, besides the husband, are one daughter, Mrs. E. V. Ennis, Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. John Luther, Portsmouth, Ohio, and Mrs. William M. Bassett of Bassett; one brother Claude B. Clark, Hot Springs, Ark., and one grandson, Pvt. Edward Vincent Ennis serving with the U. S. Armed Forces, stationed in Munich, Germany. Two other sisters, Mrs. Bascom L. Delp and Mrs. Robert Farkas, and one brother, Julian Clark preceded Mrs. McCarter in death.

Funeral services were held at Jerusalem Methodist church Saturday at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. B. G. Keebler, pastor of the Spring Valley circuit.

During the services the choir sand "Home of the Soul," "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," "Abide with Me," and "In the Land Where We'll Never Grow Old."

Interment under the direction of Vaughan-Guynn Funeral home Galax was in the church cemetery.
