Fallville -- Funeral services for Mrs. Flossie Rhudy McCarter Burris, 60, wife of Price M. Burris, who died at her home here Tuesday afternoon, December 9, 1969, were held at Jerusalem United Methodist Church Thursday, December 11, at 2 p.m.
The Rev. R. A. Ireson, pastor of the church conducted the services. Interment was in the church cemetery.
The body rested at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, until time for removal to be placed in the church to lie in state for one hour before the services.
Pallbearers were Boge Calahan, Henry Bourne, Richard Vaught, Alton Bourne, and B. A. Rhudy, Jr.
Members of the Jerusalem Church WSCS of which Mrs. Burris was a member, served as flower bearers.
Mrs. Burris was born in Grayson County, at Elk Creek on July 12, 1909 to the Rev. G. Cleve Rhudy and Phoebe Bryan Rhudy.
She was first married to the late Kyle C. McCarter.
Mrs. Burris was formerly employed in Galax at the Barr-Topham Store, and later by Sears, Roebuck & Co., in Galax.
She is survived, in addition to her husband, by two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Brooks, Richmond, and Mrs. Mary Nell Bourne, Wytheville; a step-daughter, Mrs. Louise Burris Sawyers of Puerto Rico; a sister, Mrs. A. L. Richardson, Ashland; and two brothers, Bryan Rhudy, Richmond, and Grocer C. Rhudy, Independence.
