Obituary of Mary Nell (McCarter) Bourne

Mrs. Mary Nell McCarter Bourne, age 75, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013, at Stephens County Hospital. Born Jan. 14, 1938, in Elk Creek, Va., she was the daughter of the late Kyle and Floss Rhudy McCarter. She was a member of Lady Lake United Methodist Church, Lady Lake, Fla.

Mrs. Bourne was a bookkeeper by profession, having served as treasurer for the town of Wytheville, Va., for 10 years as well as being employed by other business firms.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Stuart Bourne; and her only sister, Betty Sue McCarter Brooks Storer. Family members include her son, Louis Bourne of Toccoa; son and daughter-in-law, Graham and Nancie Bourne of Florida; grandchildren, Savannah and Noah Bourne of Toccoa; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Hobert and Mary Ann Perdue of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. Abiding by her wishes, her body was cremated. A memorial service was held at eleven o'clock Friday, March 15, 2013 at St. Matthias Episcopal Church, with Rector Mary Demmler and the Rev. Ken Struble officiating. A reception followed.
