Obituary of Charles Peery Harman
Charles Peery “Pat” Harman, Jr. age 89 of Tazewell, VA died Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at his home. Born October 19, 1925 at Maxwell, VA, he was a son of the late Charles Peery Harman, Sr. and Flora Alice Graybeal Harman. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II serving three enlistments, a former Prisoner of War, and was a Purple Heart recipient. He worked for General Motors in Baltimore, MD and retired after 44 years. Mr. Harman attended Tazewell Assembly of God Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel Bernard Harman; three sisters, Gladys Harman Patterson, Nell Harman, and Virginia Harman Fields; one nephew, Richard Harman.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva Nicewander Harman; three nieces, Elsie Matney and husband, Doy, Jeanne Fields, and Martha Jane Patterson; six nephews, Harry Harman, Danny Harman and wife, Charlene, Gerald Fields and wife, Mary Ann, R.B. “Sonny” Fields, Jr. and wife, Patricia, Frank Patterson, and Eddie Patterson; several great nieces and nephews; his lifelong friend, Jimmy St. Clair of Tazewell, VA; and special caregivers, Tammy, Jane, Peggy, Sharon, Allie, and Debbie.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Friday, June 26, 2015 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Reverend Doug Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, VA where military graveside rites will be conducted by Barns Beavers VFW Post #7136 of Tazewell, VA and members of the Virginia National Guard Honor Team of Galax, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers and Jimmy St. Clair as honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral on Friday.
