Obituary of Elsie Geneva Niswander Harman
Elsie Geneva Niswander Harman, age 92 of Tazewell, VA died Friday, August 7, 2015 at Eastview Adult Care in Bluefield, VA. Born October 19, 1922 at Roanoke, VA, she was a daughter of the late Reverend David Niswander and Lydia Anise Caldwell Niswander. Mrs. Harman attended Tazewell Assembly of God Church. She was a meticulous housekeeper, excellent cook, devoted wife, loving aunt, and a woman of prayer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved and devoted husband, Charles Peery “Pat” Harman, Jr. who died June 24, 2015; three sisters, Helen Slate, Etha Pearl Lawson, and Leoda Holloway; two brothers, Paul and Roy Niswander. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family in her generation.
She is survived by nieces, Elsie Matney and husband, Doy, Jeanne Fields, Martha P. Copeland, Betty McDaniel, Edith Slate, and Mary Ann Lawson; nephews, Harry Harman, Danny Harman and wife, Charlene, Gerald Fields and wife, Mary Ann, R.B. “Sonny” Fields, Jr. and wife, Patricia, Frank Patterson, Eddie Patterson, and Ronnie Niswander; several great nieces and great nephews including Barry and A. W. McDaniel; special caregivers, Tammy, Jane, Peggy, Sharon, Allie, Debbie, Marlene and Jessica.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Monday, August 10, 2015 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA with the Reverend Doug Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, VA. Pallbearers will be Gerald Fields, David Fields, Logan Matney, Randy Matney, Danny Harman, and Harry Harman. Honorary pallbearers are A.W. McDaniel and Barry McDaniel.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral on Monday.
