Richard Waters was born in St. Botolph without Aldgate, London, baptized 3 March, 1604 son of James and Phoebe Manning Waters. He came to Salem, Massachusetts in 1636 with his mother and her second husband, William Plaise, a gunsmith. Richard was also a gunsmith. He married Rejoice Plaise, daughter of his mom's second husband, could also be called his step sister. They had children and lived in Salem.
