Providence Williams
(September 16, 1638 - March, 1686)
Providence was Roger and Mary Barnard Williams's first born son, named for the colony they established. Providence the son was born September 16, 1638. Providence the colony was born about 1636. Providence lived and died in Providence, his brother Daniel handled Providence's estate. Providence didn't marry but at some point became a hero for rescuing his mother and clearing a towne for peace (needs more research, probably related to King Philips War). The Early Records of the Town of Providence: by Gods Providence it seasonably came to pass ye Providence Williams brought up his mother from Newport in his sloop and cleared ye towne by his vessel of all ye Indians to ye great peace and Content of all ye Inhabitants
