To His Excellency Lieutenant Colonel Sir William Maclean George Colebrooke K.H. Lieutenant Governor and Commander in Chief of the Province of New Brunswick &c &c &cThe Petition of Alva Brockway
of the Parish of
in the County of York
Humbly Sheweth
That he is a British Subject Born in New Brunswick and that he is desirous of purchasing Fifty acres of Land Situated as follows: On the East side of the River Magaguadavic River with twelve and a half chains in front and running down from the lower line of Rufus Brockway. The same to cover the improvements made thereon. The said Land is at present in wilderness state excepting the improvements made thereon by Petitioner Father who has relinquished all his claim to Your Petitioner also the right and Interest of William Shannon who had formerly applied for said Land and Petitioner requests that he may be allowed to purchase it at Two Shillings and Six pence per acrre and if not so allowed he prays the purchaser refund to him Twenty five pounds paid his Father for the improvements made him and Sixteen pounds paid to William Shannon for his Interest to said Land as per documents handed some time past to the Surveyor General.

This land is now surveyed. 76 acres. The lot includes about two acres of Intervale or Meadow land which has been improved & cleared up by the applicant. The lot also includes about 7 acres which has recently been cleared up by Solomon Veal at an expence of about £2.10 – Mr. Veal has applied for the adjoining land & the clearance was made before the time was run out.
