Humbly Shewith
That Your Excellency's Memorialist was born in the State of New Hampshire and is a British Subject, and came to the Provice in the year 1803 and has resided therein ever since. That he as present resides in the Parishg of Saint Georges, and has resided there ever since he came to the Country. That he is a Married Man and never received any Grant of land from the Crown. That he is of ability, and it is also his intention forthwith to cultivate such land as may be granted to him by Government according to he Royal Instructions.
Your Memorialist most humbly prays that a tract of Land of 300 Acres laying on the East side of the Maguadavic River and opposite the head of the Meadows, which is in its Natural and Uncultivated State, except some small bushes which has been cleared by your Memorialist for the purpose of cutting Hay may be granted to him for which Land he has not directly or indirectly bargained or agreed for the Sale or transfer of to any Person or Persons whatever.

To His Excellency Major General George Stracy Smythe Equire Lieutenant Governor and Commander in Chief of the Province of New Brunswick &c &c &cThe Humble Petition of Solomon Stone, Rufas and Ruben Brockway and Gideon Knight, Sheweth that Your Excellen Petitioners mad application for allotments of Land above the Upper Trout Brook on the River Maguaguadavick Early in the Year of Our Lord 1818. that incouragement was given your Petitioners by the Surveyor General that that there had been no application made Previous and that he believed an Order of Survey would be given which [Indresed] your Petitioners to Improve on the Land applied for and they have now made it from the state of native in a situation to Cut Thirty Tonns of Hay and that your Petitioners have continued this year to make large improvements. That there are Grose impositions practicsed on your Petitioners by Trancient Persons who Alledge that there is no Grant for these Lotts and that they have an Equal Right with your Petitioners on all Crown Land, your Petitioners finding them selves imposed upon are Induced to Petition your Excellency to Order that an order be made by the Surveyor General to have the allotments surveyed in Order That a Grant may be made to your Petition Praying that your Excellency may be Greations by pleased to Protext them after so great an under talomg tp Estebelish a settlement Near forty miles from the settlements – and as in duty Bound Your Excelency Petitioners will Ever Pray –

and that your petitioners further states that if the land can't be granted at present that your Excellency will be graciously pleased that there may be a warent of Survey on a letter of ocapation whitch pased the council twenty second of august 1818 So that your petitioners may no where the land is that they may improve and to prevent others trespassing on said land as there has been grait trespassing both in cutting the hay that your petitioners cleared the land and cutting almost all the pine timber there was on the land to the great damage of the land and that your petitioners pray that your Excelency will take into consideration the situation of your petitioners that they have done a great deal of labour on the land by having incouragement that they would have the land and as in duty Bound will pay &c &c &c

Read Memorial of the following persons. Viz. Solomon Stone, Reuben Brockway, Rufus Brockway, Daniel Brockway, Gideon Knight, Samuel North, Tyler P. Shaw, and Alexander McDonald – applicants for Land on the Magaguadavic River, which were referred until it was ascertained whether they interfere With the Great Reserve, or Military Locations, praying for License of occupation for the purpose of cutting Hay.
