In the 1900 Census he is living with his mother in Swan Lake, Pocahontas County, Iowa. He is widowed and working as a photographer. None of his children were living with him.
On 16 Dec 1901 in an affidavit filed in the Leland Brown Pension Case he indicates he is living in Laurens.
In 1904 he is listed as a photographer in the Laurens business listing in the Pioneer History of Pocahontas County, Iowa, 1904, The Times Print, Page 771..
In the 1910 Census, he is living with son's (Arthur L.) family in Benton, Lake County, Illinois.
