From The Atkins Chronicles: "JOSIAH Adkins second, son of the first JOSIAH, was born 9 March 1679/80 in Middletown, Connecticut, and died there 1 November 1724. He became a Covenanter 1704/5. On 16 December 1708 he married in Middletown Mary Wheeler of Stratford. Church records state that when Mary became a Covenenter on 4/14/1709, she 'came from another place but subjected (herself) to the discipline of the church.' She was admitted to full communion 4/25/1713. After the death of JOSIAH, she married John Stedman.
The inventory of the estate of Josiah Adkins second was taken 26 November 1724 by Israhiah Wetmore, Solomon Adkins and Joseph Rockwell. The estate was valued at (pounds) 462-17-06. On 2 April 1728, then uncle Solomon Adkins was appointed guardian to Joseph, Mary, Elizabeth and Abigail, 'minors all above 14 years of age, they desiring the same,' and John Stedman of Middletown of Middletown was to be guardian to Josiah age 13 years and John, age 11 years. In 1729 Josiah at the age of 14 appeared before the court and made choice of Edward Higbee to be his guardian and on 4 June 1731, since John Stedman had moved out of the colony, John chose his brother Joseph to be his guardian."
