One source gives his wife's name as Amy Briggs. The church records show his wife's name as Abigail. It is not certain which wife was the first or if her name may have been Abigail Briggs and she was called Amy.
In the 1800 census in Aurelius (later Brutus), Cayuga, New York. He was listed as the head of a household with one male under 10, one male and one female between 16 and 26.
On 30 October 1800 in Elbridge (formerly Camillus), Onondaga, New York he was one of eleven founding members of the Elbridge Congregation Church.
On 4 January 1806 in Elbridge he was dismissed from the church to go to Sennett, Cayuga, New York.
On 8 January 1806 in Brutus (later Sennett) he was among the founding members of the Congregational Church.
In 1810 at Brutus he was listed as head of a household with one male under 10, one male 26-45, five females under 10, and one female of 26-45.
In 1813 at Brutus he was excommunicated from the Congregational Church.
