The Life story of my Mother Connie Clark Tuesday, April 23, 2013 9 : 3 7:50 PM Born on Stoney Creek in a valley. Went to school at holly spr i n gs, and at pilot Mountain. Worked on the farm with my sister Coralie t i l l grown. Got a job at renfro hosiery mill at Mount Airy.worked about o n e y ear worked at night. Took a beauty course in 1939 till 1940, from S e p tember till Feburary, 4 months. Took state test at O'Henry Hotel in G r e ensboro,N.C. Worked at Winston-Salem in beauty shop some, at eloise G r u ffs ashburn station. Worked at Mount Airy some at B & M & varity bea u t y shop. Got job at Epperson Beauty shop August 1941, worked till Apri l 1 9 42 with Margie E. Culler. First time helped hold a meeting, summer o f 1 9 40 at bynum Bryants. Special appointments on first part. Helped hol d m e etings at White Plains in 1940. My special talents: equals music an d h e lping to lead, in church and other affairs, and trying to be a frie nd . M y other special talents : music ,keeping records, writting, and tr a ve ling, and being at home. My faith promoting experience: when Corali e ' s little twins were admininstered to and healed,and I have had faith p r o moting experiences at different times when I feel I have been lid at c r o ss roads in the right way, It seems all turns out for the best. I was s e a led to my parents in Manti Temple a very glorious event also recieve d m y e ndowments and did work for other of mothers people that were dead . T h e many elders I have met and been in our home have been cause of gr ea t f aith and devotion to church, also the apostles that have spoke to u s . I a ttended Holly Springs school and Pilot Mountain School, worked on f a r m till grown then worked at Renfro Mill awhile, then at beauty shops i n W i nston-Salem, and Mount Airy. Later worked at Siler hosery mill at H ig h P oint, stayed with Aunt Mecie. Came home got job at Adams Hosery Mi l l, w as called Blum Ashburn, Granite Hosery mill, I worked there about 2 0 y e ars. Then to Holiday Inn Motel, Albert Pick Inn, Ramada Inn. Lived a t N e wport News after married good while then back at home. My other ta le n ts were playing the piano, copying records, and songs,Embrodary,Croc h e ting, Quilts,Rhymns, and making diaries, scrapbooks,Geneology. I was a r e l ief society teacher for the visiting teaching lessons once. Also shor t l y my oldest daughter Shirley and I was a visiting teacher for two tim e s v isit our neighors, Becky Hiatt, Ruth Hiatt, Patsy Caudle, Roberta W h i taker, Lilly Hiatt. I love to go to church I go about every Sunday so m e times by myself when Shirley was sick 4 weeks with a virsus. Geneva t o o k our family to the washington temple right after barney died in 1975 . W e h ad our family sealed. We had a lot of joy going and seeing the be au ti ful new temple the first one in the east. We went several times aft e r t hat. We needed to go some more. Mary Alice, Edgar, Reuben, and Glen n a l ive right by us. Phillip and Noreen live in the big house, we li v e i n a trailer. I am glad to have our family close. I pray that Reuben a n d G lenna will learn the truth of our church and that Mary Alice and Ed g a r will go to church more. That all of us can go to the temple togethe r . T hat our family can go to church more and not have to work on sunday . I h a ve had a good life of a lot of childhood pleasures of swiming, fi shin g , with friends, Hunting Christmas trees, planning for Christmas, a nd a l l holidays. Also the neighborhood get together of wheat thrushing, w o o d chopping, chicken stews, corn shuckings, helping work on the farm w i t h my dear daddy and mother and go to the fair and mountain trips. She was a membe r o f T he Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was retired fr om A d am Millis Hosiery. She is survived by four daughters and a son-in- law , Shirley Rose Clark,Mary Alice Clark Griffin and Edgar Griffin,Donna N o r een Clark,Ramona Inez Clark,two sons and a daughter-in-law Reuben Eph r a im Clark,and Glenna Gaye Beasley Clark,Phillip Judson Clark all of Mo u n t Airy,N.C; 12 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; two nieces Sarah J a n e Clark,Dorothy Clark and two Nephews; A Graveside service will be c o n ducted Monday at 3:00 PM by Bishop J.C. Haymore at the Hiatt Family C e m etery on Sheep Farm Road, Mount Airy, N.C. Connie’ s h o me. Connie loved to write poems. I’m sure Connie will be shari ng h e r beautiful poems with a heavenly audience. In the more than 4 0 y e ars I’ve known Connie, every time I saw her she always greeted me w it h a s mile. Even though Connie’s circumstances were hard most times, I n e ve r heard her complain. She was a humble, loving, gentle person. Our l o s s is heavens gain. Connie is no longer in pain. She no longer has t o c a rry the cares of this life. She doesn’t have to worry anymore.
