I sat on the steps and s a i d Iwould have to go all my life with no one to play with. Myparents a n d I w ent to Greensboro Children Home Society andgot me a sister; a bea u tif ul blue-eyed sad little girlsmiling with a tear in her eye and shoe b u t ton holding inher mouth as she came downstairs with the lady. We walk e d down the brick street to the street car, rode to the trainstation, ca m e t o Ararat, N.C. train station, got in a buggywith my parents and cam e h o me. I gave her one of my dollsand divided toys. We loved each other l o t s and talked a lot.We were very happy, just like a real sister and da u g hter tomy parents.2- We played in the snow, walked around patting out a r o a din the snow in the front yard. We worked and played and hadrecreatio n ; l awn parties, chicken stews, weiner roasts, wentto the mountains, fa i r s, stayed weeks with cousins, helpedwith the housework and on the far m h e lping with corn, wheat,tobacco and garden.She had big large o.k. bl ue e y es, shortand chubby hands and feet.A very beautiful girl.She was e asy t o g et along with.She had many boyfriends.She was a loving and unse lfis h p erson.Her birthdaywas the same as mother's, April 4th. 3-Mother h ad a l o t of good talks with her, she was realclose to her. She was six, I w a s s even when we adopted her.I was one year older. She dated right much . S he loved Cleburn France, my second cousin. He married someone else.He l o v ed Coralie, but she had epilepsy spells and we didn't have lots of mo n e y.He wanted someone that had money.He didn't treat her right.I used t o p l ay on the organ love songs while they talked.I had some boyfriends t o o .we made trips together.She got married to Johnny Cook.She had four c h i ldren;two boy twins born on valentine's day,one girl, and one other b o y .4-The twins were Leon and Ravon,Rex,and Norma Lee.Norma lives in Pen n s ylvania and has twins too.Ravon hashad a lot of trouble with his leg. H e h a s had three or fouroperations and can't walk good yet.He lives near by i n a housing development near Brown's store on Jarvis Drive.Her husba nd m a rried again after she died in 1947.She had an epilepsy spell and f ell a c ross the footboard ofthe bed one night.Her husband was gone with h is b r other fishing. 5-My aunt stayed all night with her.Aunt Lamcia she c o u ldn'tfind a match to light the lamp quick enough.They didn'thave elec t r icity then.Her children were small.Johnny'smother raised them.
