Miscnote
The following is from Mark Teitelbaum's unpublished manuscript based on his interview with Pearl Teitelbaum Lukin in Cleveland, Ohio, about 1972:"Jake could not avoid the draft but was able to avoid the most grueling aspects of training. Reputed to be very good looking, he ended up serving in the palace guard at Leningrad from 1902-4. While reviewing troops a member of the Czar's staff picked him, along with several other soldiers, for the job. Jake moved to America soon after he left the army. Jake Teitelbaum was drafted into the Russian army after his brother Abraham. He was reputably very good looking and one of the Czar's daughters noted this. He was transferred to the Palace guard on her request.
Jake Teitelbaum was also living on Griswold, a side street running parallel to Woodland that branches off from Kinsman. He had two children: Sol (b. 1911) and Mickey (b. 1914). In 1916 he had identical twin daughters, Blanche and Esther. While living on Griswold their house was destroyed by fire."
