Birth

There are discrepancies about his age. The Passenger Manifest lists his year of birth as 1908. His social security record gives February 12, 1906.

Immigration

According to the passenger list of the SS Rotterdam which arrived in New York City on August 20, 1920 (having left Rotterdam on August 10), Karpel Muszkatel was 12 years old. His last residence was Krasnocielc, Poland and his destination was his father Mushkatel at 6009 Outhwaithe Ave Cleveland, Ohio. His nearest relative in Poland was his grandfather Rubi Mosiondz of Zabiela, Poland. Karpel had a fair complexion, brown hair and brown eyes; he was born in Zabiela, Poland.

He was living at 10105 Adams Ave with his mother and siblings. He was a paper hanger.

The following obit appeared in the June 14, 1985, Cleveland Jewish News:

"CLARENCE MUSHKATEL
A former owner of several beverage stores in Cleveland, Clarence Mushkatel died on June 10 in Boca Raton, where he had been residing since 1970. He was 79 years old. Mr. Mushkatel was born in in Rotan [sic] and came here in
1920. He and his wife, Lillian (nee Schlessinger), would have been married 50 years on June 16. Other survivors include a son, Alvin of Phoenix; two
daughters, Rita Russakoff of Richmond, Va. and Myra Rosen of Brooklyn, N.Y five grandchildren; a sister and a brother. Contributions may be made to the Clarence Mushkatel Memorial Fund. c/o Beth Shalom Home, 5700 Fitzhugh Ave., Richmond, Va. 23266"
