Birth
His Declaration of Intention gives his date of birth as January 23, 1893. The SSDI gives date of birth as November 19, 1893. His Russian passport gives his date of birth as November 9, 1893.Passport
According to his 1913 Russian passport [E-0301] his name is Gdalya Kra (his Russian patronymic is Aronov, Davydov), his place in society was petti bourgeour (middle class). He was born November 9, 1913, was Jewish, lived in the shtetel of Rozan and "located in book #331, page 318 in the family of the Solgoy Moscow area, Lomzinsky gubernia." He was married and was to be drafted into the Russian army in 1914. The passbook gives info from the book of permanently registered population. He was illiterate and of medium height. He had black hair and no specific identifying features.Immigration
On June 15, 1913, he arrived in Baltimore, Maryland, using the name Benny Moschens. He was aboard the SS Breslau which left Bremen, Germany on May 29, 1913. He was probably escaping Russian military service.Census (family)

According to the 1945 Declaration of Intention of Charles Cohen, he lived at 3508 W Shakespeare Avenue in Chicago, IL. He immigrated on June 15, 1913 at Baltimore, Maryland on the Breslau out of Bremen, Germany. He came under the name of Benny Moshans, who was either his wife's uncle or grandfather. [E-0981] The answer to this question will determine exactly how the Krays are related to the rest of the Moshontz's. His last place of residence in Europe was Poltusk, Poland.Obit
The following obit appeared January 11, 1974 in the Chicago Tribune:"Charles Cohen, beloved husband of Esther; loving father of Morton (Sally), Harry (Mitzi), Blossom and Ted (Skippy) Kray; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren. Services Friday, 12 noon, at Weinstein Brothers North Shore Chapel, 111 Skokie Blvd., Wilmette. Interment Shalom Memorial Park.
Visitation at time of service. Please omit flowers. Info. ALpine 6-5700 or RO 1-2400."
