Property
On 1 December 1716, JosephBallard with his wife Rebecca made a deed of gift of a small tract of land inAndover to his loving fried Samuel Philips, this being land laid out to his fatherWilliam Ballard.[1] Joseph transferred hisproperty to his sons prior to his death. On 26 March 1719, Joseph Ballardhusbandman of Andover, in consideration of love, goodwill, and affection,conveyed to his son Joseph Ballard, Jr. several tracts in Andover. One of thesewas part of the common land in Andover which Joseph, Jr. was to hold in equalshares with sons Hezekiah, Uriah, and Jeremiah. A portion of the property is tobe for Joseph, Jr.’s use during his natural life and then go to Joseph, Jr’seldest son. Joseph, Jr. conveyed the property to his eldest son Timothy in1727. Also on 26 March 1719, Joseph conveyed to his son Hezekiah part of theancient homestead.
