Case 1589In his will dated 30 November 1715 (probate 16 April 1716), John Ballard bequeathed to beloved wife Rebecca a sufficient and honorable maintenance to be provided by his two sons. In case of their neglect, Rebecca is to have the use of one-third part of the estate in Andover and Billerica. Eldest son Jonathan receives all the lands in Billerica and two pistols and holsters. Youngest son Sherebiah receives all the lands and buildings in Andover. Daughters Rebecca, Ruth, and Elizabeth each receive 20 pounds. Sons Jonathan and Sherebiah are named executors. Inventory included land and buildings in Andover valued at 140 pounds and land in Billerica valued at 120 pounds.
