Probate

Samuel Lane wrote his will 10 April 1818 and probated 3 September 1822.  He directs that his entire estate, real and personal, be sold at auction.  Daughter Phebe is to receive $500 from the estate. Following that, the estate is to be divided equally among his four daughters (or their heirs).  Those daughters are Hannah Lane, Dorcas White, Phebe Lane, and the children of his daughter Polly Stearns who is deceased. John Stearns, the father of Polly’s children, is to hold their portion in trust.  Moses Fitch, yeoman of Bedford, and his son-in-law John Stearns are name executors of the estate.
