Military
On 23 August 1832, Bazaleel Barton aged 78 years and resident of Croydon, New Hampshire applied for a pension based on his service in the Revolution. Bazaleel was a Minute Man in the company of Capt. Allen at Royalston. About 22 April 1775, the company marched to Lexington and then to Cambridge. The troops were in the college at Cambridge for about one month and then ordered into tents at the foot of Prospect Hill. He was stationed there until the Battle of Bunker Hill, and after that battle was at Winter Hill until his term expired in December. He returned to service in August 1777 at the Bennington alarm. He further reported he left Royalston in 1779 and resided in Croydon since 1780. When Royalton, Vermont was burned in 1780, Bazaleel entered as a volunteer in the company of Capt. Whipple, the company going to Newbury, Vermont. He served in the company of Capt. Whipple again in February 1781. He was born in Sutton, Massachusetts on 4 June 1754. He lived in Royalston, Massachusetts and then in Corydon, New Hampshire.11 U. S. Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Application Files, Case S12966
