Daughter Lydia did not marry. In her will written 17 July 1851, Lydia Barton of Croydon made bequests to her sister Rachel Putnam, her brother Calvin Barton, and left the bulk of her estate to niece Melinda S. Barton.1 In 1850, Melinda Barton aged 37 lived with her Aunt Lydia in Croydon.2
