The 1871 Census, Tecumseth Township, listed Jonathan 31, Elizabeth 24, James 2, and Jonathan E. 1, all living with Jonathan's father James.
On 7 November 1871, Charles Wellington's birth record has Jonathan as a farmer in Tottenham.
The 1872-73 Directory of Simcoe Co., Tecumseth Township., listed a Jonathan Flatt on Con. 3, Lot 13. Four other lots were owned by Flatts in the township who may have been his relations.
On 10 August 1873, Elizabeth Percilla was born in Tecumseth Township. Her father was a farmer.
In the 1881 Census the family is recorded in Mono Township, Cardwell District, Peel County as Johnathan E., 42, born Ontario., a farmer, English, Elizabeth, 37, born Ontario., James M., 12, Jonathan E., 10, Charles W., 8, Elizabeth P., 7, Walter H., 6, and Herbert W., 4, all Weslyn Methodist.
In the 1891 Census the family is recorded in Caledon Township, Cardwell District as Jonathan Flat, 52, widowed (Note: Elizabeth was still alive), Elizabeth 47, James 23, Jonathan 21, Charles 19, Pracilla 18, Walter 15, Herbet 13, Ella 5, and Dalton 2, all Methodist.
On 31 May 1908, an Elizabeth Flatt died at 64 of pleurisy. She was married, a Methodist, & lived at 6 Alpha Ave., York Co. Elizabeth's brother Charles moved to Newmarket about 1903.
In 1921 he is living in Portland Township, Frontenac County, with his daughter Ella May and her family.
On 9 September 1924, Jonathan signed Charles' birth declaration as a resident of Newmarket, York County.
On 31 July 1931, Jonathan died at 93 in Newmarket [York Region, Ontario, north of Toronto] and was buried at St. James Cemetery. He had been a farmer in Newmarket for 7 years and resided at his son Jonathan's home at 48 Chesterhill Road. His wife was recorded as his mother. The obituary in the Toronto Star recorded that Jonathan E. Flatt was a war veteran of 1866.

Marriage
Marriage was performed by William Hay, Wesleyan Methodist minister and witnessed by Mary E. Hay of Lloydtown. In 1924, Jonathan signed a birth declaration that recorded his marriage in October 1866 in Schomberg. Lloydtown and Schomberg were about 10km apart.
